How it all started...

Back in August 2020, my dad bought this big new house, with a huge garden, and two fields. Now... I love farming, I have been passionate about it ever since I was born, always trying to say hello to sheep, helping in local cattle markets and trying to get a ride on local farmers combine harvesters when they are harvesting (without having much success). So when dad bought this big new house, with a total of 4 acres to do anything you want with, I bet you know what I was thinking...

So, I started browsing online livestock streaming's, even joined 1 or 2 live streamed auction markets! But in April 2021, I finally was able to buy my first lambs, off Sell My Livestock, which is on this button below⬇

they were from Barnard Castle area, in the dales, and this is what bought:

  • 2 Texel's (one of them a ram, other a gimmer)

  • 1 Swaledale wether

  • 6 Mule of England gimmers

  • 5 Mule of England wethers

So that is 14 in total, and we brought them home, spending £385 in total, which we thought was the cheaper option (rather than buying some ewes) but we soon found out otherwise...

From Mole Country Stores, one 20kg bag of milk powder costs £43, which is not cheap, but with 14 little lambs, we went through 1 of these every 3 days which was ridiculously expensive in the long run.

But as time went on they grew and they were old enough, and it was warm enough for them to be let out into the field, where they could nibble at the first few blades of grass.

And ever since then, we have been looking after them, rearing them on only the best grass and the proof is in the pudding! don't just believe me, at 4 months old, our biggest lamb is 105lb/45kg!!😲
