Storm 'Arwen'⛈❄🌬😲

The wind is howling, the rain is roaring and danger is in the air...

It was one of the rare times that the Met Office issued a RED warning for wind, with the highest wind expected to be up to 90 mph.

The storm had a devastating effect across the north of the country, from Aberdeen, right down to Middlesbrough. People in Scotland going without power for days, people getting killed just driving home and trees, sheds, warehouses and vehicles getting blown over by the ferocious, relentless arctic blast.

With all this nationwide damage, you would be surprised to find that we had over 10 trees down within 1/2 mile of our farm.

We had the 'Full Monty' of trees down by us, ranging from a whole elm down across half the road, to half a 100's year old oak tree, to a whole shed blowing over, pulling down the fence with it.🙄

We had plenty of fun tidying up, with all the leaves suddenly down and the small, gurgling stream now a gushing torrent, threatening to flood the garden.

To do a small act of kindness for the community I and my kind friends chopped up the mighty fallen elm that was making cars drive onto the grass(that was quickly turning to mud) verge and hauled the main trunk to safety....off the road.

Also, after the storm was over and we dared to go out, we were surprised to find that behind the garage was a 1/4 of a young beech tree!! Which had been blown off, now leaving the 'headless' trunk still standing and bringing our garage gutter gracefully groundwards😉.

And the shed? Well, that was worrying, I came down the morning after the storm to feed our favourite sheep 'Tom' when to my surprise I found the shed had fled its fervently fast foundations to end up-ended on our fence in the nearby lane.😯 We quickly sorted the problem.
